Growing Up Stories: Story from a son
Growing Up COH and Adult COH Experiences

This has made me hate my life, hate my family and become afraid to
enter into any long lasting relationship out of fear that they will see how
my family chooses to live...

Relationship : son
Source : searched the net after another painful day
Message : I'm 24 and I live with my girlfriend, but about twice a month
I make the hopeful trip to my parents house to say hello, check my
mail and walk their dog.  And every time I walk in the door I'm zapped
back to a lifetime of pain.  Junk everywhere, piles and piles of junk that
is too valuable to my family to part with.  A kitchen that is beyond
deplorable and an even greater stack of laziness.

They love living this way...bringing in junk from garage sales.  My
sister, 31 still lives at home amidst a mountain of her own neglect and
doesn't want to do her part.  This is the most painful part of my life,
never feeling comfortable at home and being surrounded by a family that
has no energy to improve it's quality of life.  My greatest fantasy is
to become wealthy and burn that house to the ground with all of their
treasures inside to show them that their junk is useless.

This has made me hate my life, hate my family and become afraid to
enter into any long lasting relationship out of fear that they will see how
my family chooses to live.

I'm so grateful for this site, because I do feel good after venting,
but I could vent everyday for the rest of my life and still have pain
remaining.

So vent. Sometimes that's all we can do. And know it isn't your fault.
