fix this alone and its not all her fault.
I can't remember the last
time I've let a friend in my house. Only once have I recently let
someone in that didn't already know, or share the same problem. It was my
best friend and I only let her in because she had to use the bathroom
and was not near home. I was so embarrassed and never told my mother. I
need to start leading by example in order to take control of our house
and maybe invite people over and stop hiding my secret.

Re: Story sent in from a daughter of hoarder (Score: 1) by LizB ((none)) on Monday, August 13, 2007 @ 16:41:05 ICT (User Info | Send a Message) | I wouldn't leave. I have got a worse situation than you, almost, well, in some ways. My mom is a senior citizen, and a moderate hoarder. - We do not need to clear paths to get anywhere except when its concerning the two garages, i.e. auto garage & casita, on our property, my mother's two giant closets, and her bathroom, only. I also have a downs syndrome brother that needs thoughtful care for all of his life. Do you not know these hoarders get worse when you leave? I wouldn't neglect her, she may be only bipolar, or schizophrenic depending on the severity. Even my mom gets worse when I leave. I wouldn't leave until she changes for the better, and for good, i.e. with therapy, medications, family moral support, and pristine living conditions. - whatever it takes!
If someone is your friend, they would understand your situation, and help you clean it up. Otherwise, dump that good for nothin' 'friend'.
Anyway, Good Luck. You're in my prayers. |
