story =
Mom hoarded everything, also had way too many children. She'd
force us to collect garbage on 'Trash Day' (like it was some kind of
holiday). We were so embarrassed that our friends would see us digging
in the garbage for clothes, chairs and anything else my mom thought was
valuable. Needless to say our house was always a mess and my mom ruled
over everything. Nobody else had a say in the house.
We moved over sea's and the hoarding continued. We were a bit older
and more defiant so we'd sometimes refuse to help her move all the new
garbage up four flights of stairs, then into the apartment and move old
garbage up to the attic and more stuff from the attic to the apartment.
She'd turn vicious if we refused and yelled and made us look bad to
our siblings, as though we were against her.
She had bought a gigantic round cheese, wrapped in plastic and it sat
in the back room for over a year, growing mold on it. This back room
she turned into a food storage space, while us kids all shared a room.
I'd refuse to go home for weeks and would stay with friends.

I was also a messy person for years after that until I walked into a
friends house. I said "It feels great in your home!" She replied that
she had just Feng Shui'd her home and let me borrow the book. I cleared
up my space and my life became lighter. I moved in with my partner
after a few years and she lives amongst a lot of clutter. She's always
bringing something new home, the closet is full of her stuff, there is
clutter everywhere and I become really irritable, confused, lethargic
etc. But she won't clean her space. She gets mad at me when I complain
about the house.
I am an extremely neat person now but I feel stuck in life because my
partners clutter overwhelms me.
