I grew up in a filthy cluttered house. I was embarrassed by
the mess and had no power to change anything but myself. In 34 years
nothing has changed.I survived eating from that unsanitary kitchen and
living in a pig sty. I love my parents but I cant tolerate the mess.
Their house  smells of rotting food, dirty laundry and animals.  My
parents want us to visit, but there is so much stuff stacked on every flat
surface, that there is never any place to sit down.

I sometimes wonder if we can grow up in that environment and be
normal functioning adults.  I fear that as I grow older the craziness of
hoarding will start to manifest itself in my behavior.
