I am 37 and still affected by my mothers actions in her home.
  I haven't been inside the house in years and it has affected our
entire family.  My brother and I were definetley neglected growing up due
to the condition of the house.  The plumbing didn't work and trash and
clutter were in every room.  I never even knew there was a name for this
condition until now. 

My mother has no relationship with my 2 year old
niece because she is so mentally unstable.  Even though I haven't
lived with her since I was 18, her actions continue to affect me and my
life and honestly it pisses me off!!  My childhood was robbed from me and
that is something I can never forgive.  I also believe the mold in the
house is what killed my father and that will never be forgiven either.
  I try to have a relationship with her, but recently I have stopped
contact because its just too painful.
