Understanding, Assessing, and Intervening with Compulsive Hoarding
A Life Enhancement Seminar in the Work, Health, and Life Series. Program is part of the Spring 2008 'Get Trained' Series offered through the Office of Human Resources.

Date and Time: Tuesday, April 22, 2008 12 noon - 1:30 p.m.
Presenters: Christiana Bratiotis, MSW, LCSW, Boston University School of Social Work, Doctoral Student
Bonnie Teitleman, Faculty/Staff Assistance Program
Location: Office of Human Resources, Training Room, 25 Buick Street, Second Floor

This session will engage participants in understanding the categorization, demographics, prevalence, etiology and co-morbidity of compulsive hoarding. Recent findings from a federally-funded mental health study will be presented along with the most current clinical assessment and intervention strategies for individual treatment of people with hoarding behavior. Tools for a range of disciplines within the human services field and those interested in collaborative and community level responses will also be introduced.

  • Learn about the demographics and prevalence of the problem
  • Leave about current assessment and interventions for problems of excessive clutter/hoarding
  • Learn about recent findings from the BU School of Social Work NIMH funded Treatment for Compulsive Hoarding research study
