Well I did it. The other day when I called my mom, I brought up the topic of their house, and we had an OK conversation about it. It wasn't the best, because she did almost immediately bring up excuses, BUT she WASN'T MAD! So we'll continue to use baby steps and keep bringing up the topic. My next step is to start sending her emails with web links, and/or copy some of the stuff from our good hoarding websites (COH, helpinghoarders, OCfoundation, etc) into these emails. My sister has also made contact with a therapist who works with hoarding. We still have a while to go to get our mom to admit she needs outside help. Her biggest two excuses are "There is just so much I don't know where to begin" and "I never have time because I'm helping everybody ELSE do <whatever, insert many things here>"
Anyway, maybe she just didn't get mad because I'm halfway around the world. |

Yeah!! 
You talked about it with her. That is great!
Maybe she wasn't mad because you are deployed, but I figure if you make it a habit to talk about the hoarding, it may be harder for her to get mad when you do come home. Use the situation to your advantage!
